Work Environment

Working environment was friendly and welcoming.

Good Things

Enhanced my networking skills, people skills. Got to interact with different patients with various medical cases. I learnt that it is very important  to take the time to examine your notes in advance and bring any documents you believe you might need if you know you’ll be working with a particular client (such as those who have spinal cord injuries). This indicates initiative and passion during your internship, two qualities that make a good impression on potential employers for future purposes. It is very important to regularly research a condition  you observe if you are unfamiliar with it at home. Be open to learning from your patients, clinical instructors, and the entire rehabilitation team, and make an effort to infuse all of your client contacts with a positive and energizing vibe.

Bad Things

Hectic schedule and regular overtime was sometimes discouraging.

Stipend

No stipend was applicable for this internship.

How Did You Manage the Accommodation With Commuting to the Office?

I used to commute on my own via personal vehicle or metro. The hospital is 4 kms away from my residence.

Other Details

It was a memorable experience. Gained additional experience in the health sector. Learnt about different treatment approaches as well as other variations in the health system and worked with patients from different cultures. The gratitude on the faces of the patients after the therapy encouraged me everyday to work hard. You are ultimately in charge of your experience and how much you gain from it. You can make the most of your experience by going into it with a clear set of goals and periodically checking them with your supervisor to make sure you are on track. It was indeed very helpful for my future career prospects.
